As the world faces the crises of climate change from anthropogenic CO2 emissions and plastic pollution into our environment, harming human health and wildlife, CO2BioClean has developed a technology which addresses both of these challenges simultaneously – and helps businesses reduce their carbon-footprint cost-effectively.

The CO2BioClean patented fermentation process uses industrial CO2 emissions to produce biodegradable and compostable polymers which can then be used in the production (for example) of bioplastics and textiles.. CO2 is captured at source from industrial facilities and transformed through fermentation into fully biodegradable PolyHydroxyAlkanoates (PHA).

By rapidly scaling up this technology, our aim is to support the creation of carbon neutral materials and an economically-viable ” fossil-fuel-free future”, while reducing the impact of non-biodegradable plastics on our environment.. Businesses will benefit from using an innovative, cost-effective solution to transform their CO2 emissions into a valuable polymer that can displace fossil-fuel based plastics and textiles.

ABOUT US

Founded in 2019 by Dr. Fabiana Fantinel and Dr. Alessandro Carfagnini, CO2BioClean is an innovative start-up based in Eschborn, Germany, developing a fermentation process that converts carbon dioxide into biodegradable polymers.

At CO2BioClean, we believe that we can play our part in helping reduce the impact of industrial emissions on the climate, whilst simultaneously producing valuable biopolymers that themselves have a positive climate and environmental impact through their inherent characteristics of compostability and biodegradability.

Through an advanced and proprietary process based on fermentation, the gas becomes biopolymers (PHA) that can be used to make biopolymers for consumer markets.
Our fermentation units are installed alongside industrial structures and cause no change to the processes themselves, capturing emissions at the end of a pipe.
